Easy Snowshoeing in Levi. Forest Trail, No Experience Needed, Hot Berry Juice in the Wild

Why choose this snowshoe tour in Levi

  • Easy level, suitable from age 12, comparable to cycling 5 km
  • Guide reads the winter landscape: animal tracks, Arctic nature, how wildlife survives the cold
  • Hot berry juice stop in the forest halfway through
  • Available December to April

Getting Started: Snowshoes On, Adventure Begins

One of the perks of a private tour is flexibility: we can choose the best starting point based on your preferences, snow conditions, and fitness level. In some cases, the hike can even begin right from your accommodation. Alternatively, we may drive a short distance to a hand-picked trailhead.

Your guide begins with a short briefing and helps you prepare with snowshoes and the necessary equipment. After a quick fitting, with snowshoes adjusted to your foot size and worn over your own winter boots, your adventure is ready to begin.

Our most popular route starts from Levi village center and leads along the scenic foothills of Levi Fell, but many other trails are also available depending on conditions.

Snowy Forests, Frozen Lakes & Arctic Wildlife

The snowshoe trail winds through quiet, snow-covered forests, across frozen lakes, and along the peaceful edges of Levi Fell. The only sounds are the crunch of snow beneath your feet and the whisper of the winter wind.

Along the way, you may notice animal tracks or even glimpse Arctic wildlife: hares in their white winter coats, snow grouse, or a fox. Your guide will point out signs of life in the forest and share how animals survive Lapland’s deep winter.

Hot Drink in the Wild

Halfway through the hike, we’ll take a break at a peaceful forest spot. Here you’ll enjoy a steaming cup of traditional Finnish berry juice, surrounded by the stillness of Arctic nature.

Your guide will share stories about life in Lapland and answer any questions you may have about the environment, local traditions, and seasonal lifestyle.

Return with a New Perspective

Recharged and refreshed, you’ll complete the loop and return to the starting point, whether it's your accommodation or a nearby trailhead, with a new appreciation for the beauty and silence of the Arctic wilderness.

      Please note

        F.A.Q.

        • Is snowshoeing in Levi suitable for complete beginners?

Yes. This is the easiest snowshoeing tour we offer. No prior experience is needed — the guide adjusts snowshoes to your boot size and the pace is set by the group. The effort is comparable to cycling approximately 5 km.

        • Do I need to bring my own snowshoes or poles?

No. Snowshoes and poles are provided and included in the price. Wear your own sturdy, warm winter boots — snowshoes are fitted over them.

        • What is the difference between this tour and the Wilderness Snowshoeing tour?

The Easy tour starts and ends in Levi village with no transport — it is a 2-hour loop on relatively flat terrain. The Wilderness tour involves a 10-minute transfer, a short uphill climb to a viewpoint, and ends at a private hut with a campfire stop. Both are available from age 12.

        • What is the light like in December on this tour?

In December, daylight in Levi lasts roughly from 10:00 to 14:00. Tours departing in this window run in natural light. Later departures enter kaamos — the soft, luminous blue Arctic light of the polar night period — which gives the snow-covered forest a quality of light unlike anything in ordinary daylight.
