Your first snowmobile safari should feel exciting, not stressful, rushed or crowded.
The Levi Classic is designed for guests who have never driven a snowmobile before but want more than a short practice ride. The route combines easy, well-maintained trails with private sections through forests and open Arctic landscapes that are inaccessible to other safari companies.
Every group is limited to a maximum of 6 snowmobiles per guide. This keeps the pace comfortable, makes instructions easier to follow and gives the guide time to help each driver individually.
No previous snowmobile experience is required. If you can drive a car, listen to the guide and follow the safety instructions, you can take part in a real wilderness ride without the pressure.
WHY LEVI CLASSIC safari IS DIFFERENT
More wilderness. Fewer snowmobiles.
- We keep every safari group compact. You will not be placed in a long convoy where the front disappears from view and the last riders constantly have to catch up. A smaller group means clearer communication, a steadier pace and more personal help from the guide.
- The route includes snowmobile trails across privately owned land reserved for our programs. These sections take the group away from much of the traffic found on Levi’s public snowmobile routes during the busiest winter weeks.
- The Levi Classic is operated with 2026 Ski-Doo Grand Touring Sport 600 ACE snowmobiles. The machines are used exclusively for our guided safaris and maintained by our own team.
- The experience begins at our safari house in a private forest setting only minutes from Levi centre. From here, the group has direct access to the trail network without starting from a busy central safari yard.
- Thermal suit, helmet, balaclava, boots, mittens and woollen socks are provided for every participant. You only need suitable base layers and your physical driving licence.
- The Classic operates daily at 09:15 and 13:45 during the winter season, subject to snow and weather conditions.

Step by Step
What happens during the Levi Classic safari?
Meeting & transfer
Meet us at Levi centre or use the available accommodation pickup. The transfer to our forest safari house takes approximately 10-15 minutes.
Arctic clothing and equipment
At the safari house, we help you put on the thermal suit, boots, mittens, balaclava and helmet. All equipment is included in the price.
Safety briefing and practice
Before entering the trail, the guide explains the controls, braking, safe distances, hand signals and how to position your body while turning. The snowmobiles are automatic and straightforward to operate. No previous snowmobile experience is required.
Guided wilderness rides
Follow the guide through snowy forests, frozen landscapes and a combination of public and private wilderness trails. The pace is adapted to the group and current trail conditions.
2 adults normally share 1 snowmobile and may change drivers during the safari. Solo driving can be added when booking.
Hot drink stop
The group stops in the wilderness for a hot drink and a short break. This is also a good opportunity to take photographs and ask the guide questions about the surroundings.
Return to Levi
After the return ride, the group changes out of the safari equipment and is transferred back to Levi. The complete experience takes approximately 2.5 hours.
FIRST TIME ON A SNOWMOBILE?
Is a snowmobile difficult to drive?
For most guests, the basic controls are easy to learn. A snowmobile has handlebars for steering, a throttle operated with the thumb and a hand brake. There are no gears to change.
Driving on snow is different from driving a car, especially in turns, but the guide demonstrates the correct technique before departure. The first part of the route is taken at a comfortable pace so everyone can become familiar with the machine.
You do not need:
- previous snowmobile experience;
- a special snowmobile licence;
- specialist Arctic clothing;
- advanced fitness;
- knowledge of the local trails.
Feeling nervous is normal. Most first-time drivers become comfortable with the controls during the first section of the route.
Shared snowmobile or solo driving?
Shared snowmobile
2 adults share one machine: one person drives while the other sits behind as a passenger. If both hold valid driving licences, they may change places during the safari.
This is the standard option included in the advertised adult price.
Best for: couples, first-time riders and guests who want to share the experience.
If your party has an odd number of adults, one participant may need to book solo driving or share with another unmatched guest. Check the available options during booking or contact us before confirming.
THE ROUTE
Forest trails, frozen landscapes and private wilderness.
The Levi Classic does not follow only one type of terrain. The route combines marked public trails with private sections across forest and wilderness land reserved for our guests.
Public trails connect the safari efficiently through the Levi area. The private sections create the quieter part of the experience: fewer passing snowmobiles, smaller forest trails and time to notice the silence once the engines are switched off.
The precise route may change according to snowfall, ice conditions, trail maintenance and the ability of the group. This allows the guides to choose the most suitable and enjoyable route for the day rather than following exactly the same circuit in every condition.

THE SNOWMOBILES
Built for comfortable Arctic touring.
The Levi Classic uses 2026 Ski-Doo Grand Touring Sport 600 ACE snowmobiles. These are touring machines selected for stable, comfortable guided riding rather than aggressive sports performance.
The wide seat accommodates a driver and passenger, while the upright riding position makes the machine accessible for first-time riders. The quiet four-stroke engine provides smooth power that is easy to control on a guided safari.

MORNING OR AFTERNOON?
09:15 - morning safari
The best option for guests who want to see as much of the winter landscape as possible in natural daylight. In December, the safari begins in the quiet pre-dawn light and continues into the brightest part of the short Arctic day.
Best for: landscape views, families and first-time visitors.
13:45 - afternoon and blue moment
In December and early January, the afternoon departure moves from daylight into the blue moment of the polar winter. Snow reflects the remaining light and the forest gradually becomes deep blue as the day fades.
Best for: atmospheric photography and the kaamos experience.
Daylight changes significantly during the winter. By February and March, both departures normally take place mainly in daylight.
JOINING WITH CHILDREN
Can children join the Levi Classic?
Yes. Children can join the Classic safari.
Children under 130 cm travel in a sled pulled by the guide’s snowmobile. Children who are at least 130 cm tall and can safely reach the passenger footrests may sit behind an adult driver when booked at the adult price.
A small child travelling in the sled should be accompanied by an adult or an older child.
On the Levi Classic, children ride in the sled - they do not drive mini-snowmobiles.
