Elves Village Self-Guided Visit — entrance ticket, Levi
Why this stands out
- The most flexible way to experience Elves Village — fully self-paced, no scheduled group, can be booked until last minute
- The Elves’ Hideaway was kept secret from humankind for a long time; guests follow the hidden paths through the forest at their own rhythm
- Evening visits (Jan–Mar): the trails are lit, the village is quiet, and the northern sky above Elves Village is one of the better spots near Levi for aurora viewing
- Santa’s new home is a walk-through experience: the History Room and the talking tree audiovisual exhibition are included in this entrance ticket
The self-guided walk
On arrival at the Visitor Center, guests receive the secret map of Tonttula. The map leads along the Elves’ Paths through the forest to the hidden Elves’ Hideaway — a collection of charming huts kept secret from the outside world. The forest walk is approximately 700 metres.
At the Hideaway, guests explore the Gingerbread House, the Elf School and the Wise Elf’s House — all open to admire and enter. The Seita Stone is the mystical entrance to the underground kingdom where elves, goblins, forest people and other magical folk live in peace and harmony; guests may step inside.
Santa’s new home
The self-guided route continues to Santa Claus’s new home. Guests explore his office, kitchen, wardrobe of travel costumes and bedroom. A hidden secret door leads to the History Room, where the fascinating history of toys comes to life. The route ends in the audiovisual exhibition room, where a talking tree brings Lapland’s stories to life.
The Lappish courtyard
Beyond the Hideaway lies the authentic Lappish courtyard of Tonttula — ancient log storehouses turned into Elf Museums, the Temple, and the Blacksmith’s workshop. The Elf Shop at the Visitor Center carries souvenirs and gifts.
Evening visits (January – March)
Evening entrance to Elves Village offers a different experience: the paths are lit with lanterns and the atmosphere is calm and magical. The toboggan hill is open when snow conditions allow. Above the village, the northern sky is often clear — the position at Köngäs on the Ounasjoki River is one of the better spots near Levi for seeing the Northern Lights when conditions allow. Sightings cannot be guaranteed.
Please note
This is a self-guided program. Guided interactive activities — gingerbread baking, Elf School crafts, reindeer feeding — are not included. These are available in the Elves’ Workshop and Santa’s Workshop programs. Gingerbread decoration at the Visitor Center is available daily 12:00–15:00 for an extra €5, paid on site.
